Interior Designer / Antique Pop-up Shop Owner: What Exactly Do I Do?

April 14, 2016 Kayla Miller
FBCover1.jpg

Recently I've had a lot of people ask me exactly what Plum Pretty Decor and Design is and what exactly do I do. Plum Pretty Decor and Design is a full service interior design business that specializes in creating beautiful spaces that inspire others to live meaningful, purposeful, love-centered lives. I offer a variety of design services- no design job is too big or too small. I do everything from styling book cases to complete new home designs. My design page is currently under construction and will be released within the next few weeks with all new design packages and services.

So I have covered the design part of Plum Pretty Decor and Design. But what about the Decor part.? The decor in Plum Pretty Decor and Design covers my vintage and antique pop-up shops and my soon to open online shop. I travel around NC and surrounding states setting up at different events selling my antique and vintage collection. Throughout the year I buy up an entire inventory of antiques and vintage items to offer my customers and clients a chance to shop items that's not normally available to them. I "pick" my own items hand selecting each piece. I use a lot of antiques in my design business and this gives clients a way to shop for these items they can't purchase at your average store. I love how at my shows I am able to style my booth in a way that shows people how they can incorporate antique and vintage items in their homes. Antiques have always been one of my passions and this way I get to turn a passion into a job. I love traveling all over and meeting new people that share this same passion.

I sell a variety of items- but I focus on vintage, antique, farm fresh finds, custom painted furniture, farm tables, and items that fit a simple and fresh design palette. I show at some of the most well known and sought after antique and vintage shows on the east coast such as City Farmhouse and Lucketts Spring Market, and have had celebrity shopper such as Sheryl Crow buy my custom pieces.

Item Specialties:

Early 1900's furniture- both in original condition and custom painted. Early farm style tables. Custom upholstery items. Crystal lighting- chandeliers and scones. Glassware including but not limited to- milk glass, iron stone, mason jars, old bottles, milk bottles and jade. Decor items- old book, industrial pieces, architectural pieces, wooden shutters, fire mantles, primitive items, wooden crates, frames and much more. I will also be launching a new french farmhouse market section at my upcoming 2016 shows.

Plum Pretty Decor and Design at the end of the day is not only my job but my passion and "the only way to do great work is to love what you do." - Steve Jobs

I hope this helps everyone better understand what Plum Pretty Decor and Design is all about! Yes it's an interior design business and yes I sell antiques.

With love,
