Farmhouse Style Office Plans

August 16, 2016 Kayla Miller
Farmhouse Style Office- Plum Pretty Decor and Design

I'm planning my farmhouse style office!

First I want to start with saying bless all of you who work from home and manage to keep a clean organized office/home. Right now I technically do not have an office and it is driving me crazy.

When we started redoing our master bedroom all the "stuff" got shoved, pack, and thrown into the room I called my office. I called it my office because it had a desk and a printer. Now it looks like an episode of Extreme Hoarders in there- seriously y'all, I'm gonna have to clean before I even take before pictures. So for the last couple of months I have worked from any flat surface in my house where my computer cord could reach a power outlet. Right now I'm in our sunroom sitting on the couch with my computer resting on a throw pillow. This chaos has to end soon! I can not find anything and my whole house is covered in tile samples, paint decks, and design plans. I NEED a space to create and work and I just so happen WANT that space to be farmhouse style. Shocker I know....

Our master bedroom is still not complete but half the stuff that was packed into "my office" hasn't been touched since getting tossed in there. I find myself wanting to do a massive purge. If I haven't missed those "things" in months do I really need them? So first step will be to declutter and refresh. Out with the old and in with the shiplap- I mean new.

I want my office to be a reflection of my personal style, functional with lots of storage, purposeful and and space I love to be in. I am in the early planning phase of this project but I do have a pretty basic idea of what I want. I'm sure it will change slightly as it unfolds, as most plans do, but the main idea is definitely in my head {and now here on my blog}.

One of the main things I want in my office is plenty of storage. I plan to do an entire wall of built-ins with shelves, cabinets and sliding barn doors. I was inspired by this piece from World Market for the built-ins:

I also plan on adding shiplap to the other remaining walls. Check out my easy DIY faux shiplap tutorial- here.

All the small details are still in the works but here is a peek at my style board for my farmhouse style office:

So pretty much like the rest of my house I want a very neutral pallet. Lots of natural wood, greenery and touches of galvanized metal and maybe some chippy white paint.

Here are a few offices I found on Pinterest that I love. {Click Photos for sources}

I cannot wait to get this project started and completed! I cannot wait to have my own space to create, work, and love. I will keep you updated!

With love,
