Happy 4th of July friends and happy Birthday AMERICA! I wanted to take a little break from the fireworks, hot dogs, and sparklers or in my case yard work and wish all you the very best 4th. I hope your heart is filled with love and fireworks today. But as promised I wanted to get on here today and share my living room decorated in red, white, and blue. Which as most of y'all already know is A LOT of color for this neutral loving girl.

I honestly had no intention of decorating for the fourth. That was until I remembered I had this amazing old hand stitched American Flag. But the thing was.... That flag was still packed in my enclosed trailer from my last show at City Farmhouse where I had used it for part of my display. So Austin and I go over to the warehouse to get this flag. I had not idea where I had packed it inside the trailer- which let me tell you, that trailer is a HOTT mess after packing up after a show. So here I go climbing, squeezing, and a hunting using Austin's cell phone as my flashlight. Well until I dropped his cell phone into the unknown. I was all the way on top of stacked boxes as I watched it fall thru the cracks all the way to the bottom... Then like magic (pretzeling my body into many different positions)I retrieve the cell phone and saw the flag right there in a crate on top of everything- I escaped with only minor bumps and scratches.
I thought of pretty much a million and one places I could hang that flag in my house but it ended up in my living room because that happened to be the one "clean" room in my house at the time. I was a little worried about layering it behind my metal arch frame and magnolia wreath. But once I got it up there and positioned it just right its like "The Star Spangled Banner" started playing and fireworks lit up my living room.
The rest of the decor was scavenged from around my house. I found a wooden paddle with red stripes and various red pillows. My house is pretty neutral so I felt good even finding that much red. When redecorating ALWAYS shop your house first! You might be surprised what you find- things you may not even remember or know you had in the first place. Kind of like that paddle. It has been propped in the corner of our family room since we moved in. Styling for holidays doesn't have to be extravagant or stressful just use what you have. Or for holidays such as the fourth just pick up some inexpensive small flags (Dollar Tree) and incorporate them into your home. Just keep it simple friends.
